Jon says the players dedication and commitment to their training mean they deserve all the accolades which have been coming their way.

Our Under 12s, Under 14s, Under 16s and Open Age will compete in the County League. Sadly, our U16s did not get into the Premier League this year.  Matches are at weekends from end March to end May.  Courts will be pre-booked, so we do ask for your understanding during these times.

Road to Wimbledon

The Club will again host a knockout competition for Under 14s.  See Noticeboard for details.

Mini Tennis

2 mini red teams and a mini Orange have been entered in the County competition and coaching sessions continue throughout the year with Jon and Max.

Under- 18s on Inter-County quest

Cumbria’s Under 18 boys team have just competed in the annual Inter-County Cup held over 3 days at the Scotstoun Leisure Complex, in Glasgow.

The team performed well narrowly losing to South of Scotland 5-4 on day 1, beating Cornwall 6 - 3 on day 2 and again losing 5 - 4 to Shropshire on day 3 earning them a commendable second place in their group.

It is also worth stating that 6 of the 8 man team are members of Kendal/Heversham Tennis Clubs showing the strength of tennis in the South Lakes Area.

Jon Griffin says `the boys were a credit to themselves and the county both on and off court and were a pleasure to work with'

Jon Griffin, Club Coach, runs a popular singles Box League across the Kendal area.

Child Protection Policy

HTMC adheres to the LTA ‘Code of Conduct for all those working with children in tennis’.

We aim to create an enjoyable environment for all juniors who wish to take part in tennis or other sport and social activities at the club.

We believe that children and young people have the right to be safe, secure and free from threat.

We believe that young people have the right to be treated with respect, and to have their concerns listened to and acted upon.

We will ensure that the club provides for the needs of junior members through specific programmes, designated facilities, and safe practice.

We have procedures in place to address poor practice, and to help any young person who appears to be at risk, or who appears to be the victim of abuse. We will offer help and support when a child or young person tells us that they are affected by these issues.

We will take steps to ensure that any club volunteers or professionals working with children are suitable to do so, through the use of references and background checks. We will ensure that all relevant people have been vetted and approved through the LTA’s Criminal Record Bureau disclosure process.

We will ensure that all of those working with children are made aware of the LTA code of conduct for people working with children in tennis, and are required to follow it.

The Club has an adult member who is specifically responsible for children, young people and child protection:

This person’s name is Jon Griffin, Head Coach   07721 067581
