We have just received news that our Under 14s team has been accepted once more into the Premier League.  This means that we are in with the top 24 clubs in the country – the majority of whom are High Performance Centres and Satellite Clubs.  Put these dates in your diaries and come along and support.  Matches may be indoors, so keep an eye on the Noticeboard.

18th April - Away v Carnegie
24th April - Home V Thongsbridge
9th May - Away v Bolton
23rd May - Home V Tennis world
29th May - Away V Esporta Wearside

Our Under 12s will compete in the County League again.  Matches are at weekends from end March to end May.  Courts will be pre-booked, so we do ask for your understanding during these times.

Our new under 7 squad is now in training and looking good - James Griffin is ranked number 1 2004 in Cumbria.  Wonder who his Dad is?!  We look forward to having a great Senior team around 2020 and onwards.

David Smith – County Award

David received the Boy of the Year award and a merit award for 2009 from Cumbria lta.  Over the past few years they have nominated a boy and girl who, in their opinion, has been a credit to the County, both on and off court, and has achieved high standards at regional and national events.  David deservedly won the award and was presented with the trophy by Tony Hesmondhalgh at the Cumbria AGM presentation evening Dec 2, 2009.

The picture and article, outlining some of his county achievements over the years, is on this link on the Cumbria lta website.

David has progressed through the ranks of our juniors over the years and has now taken on the role of Captain of the successful Men’s First Team.  We hope this encourages all of our current juniors to follow in his footsteps, as the Club actively supports junior development into the Senior teams.

Jon Griffin, Club Coach, runs a popular singles Box League across the Kendal area.

Child Protection Policy

HTMC adheres to the LTA ‘Code of Conduct for all those working with children in tennis’.

We aim to create an enjoyable environment for all juniors who wish to take part in tennis or other sport and social activities at the club.

We believe that children and young people have the right to be safe, secure and free from threat.

We believe that young people have the right to be treated with respect, and to have their concerns listened to and acted upon.

We will ensure that the club provides for the needs of junior members through specific programmes, designated facilities, and safe practice.

We have procedures in place to address poor practice, and to help any young person who appears to be at risk, or who appears to be the victim of abuse. We will offer help and support when a child or young person tells us that they are affected by these issues.

We will take steps to ensure that any club volunteers or professionals working with children are suitable to do so, through the use of references and background checks. We will ensure that all relevant people have been vetted and approved through the LTA’s Criminal Record Bureau disclosure process.

We will ensure that all of those working with children are made aware of the LTA code of conduct for people working with children in tennis, and are required to follow it.

The Club has an adult member who is specifically responsible for children, young people and child protection:

This person’s name is Jon Griffin, Head Coach   07721 067581

Or

Graham Honeybone, Chairman  015395 52502
